Born Bennett Mueller, the multi-talented artist, started making music when he was just a mere 4-year-old using the piano. While he excels on the piano, he is also very skilled in playing the drums, bass, and trombone. If he were made to choose between all these instruments, Lasaylo would choose the trombone without blinking. His talent in playing the trombone has enabled him to play in symphonic bands, sing in all-state choirs, play in church, make jazz music, and march down Main Street Disney at some point.

Inspired by the artist’s creativity and brand of music, Lasaylo decided to make his own in the fall of 2019. Aside from Svdden Death, he also looks up to the output of San Holo, Blanke Music, Green Matter, Brondo, DJ Diesel, Kaivon, Excision, LSDREAM, Clozee, Slander, and Adventure Club, to name a few. While his first few tries were not as perfect as he hoped they would be, he pressed on nonetheless until he identified his own style and rhythm. After all, the young artist confesses that grit is one of the many attributes that separate him from the rest. 

“Grit separates me from my competition. I am able to set goals, readjust my expectations, practice introspection, and take a breath of fresh air. Grit. And I make music that sounds pretty cool to some people. I’m also brutally honest and I feel like people really like authenticity and genuineness. Honesty is the best policy, after all,” Lasaylo shares. 

Lasaylo’s kind of music is mostly future bass, dubstep, and IDM. Just recently, he tried out being a DJ as well and got his very first mixer. Whenever he sets out to create new songs, he is motivated by the idea of giving a positive message to the world that will make a lasting impact on the lives of people who hear them. As much as he can, he tries to write songs that come from his heart and stays as honest as possible to guarantee a genuine result. 

Aside from building his music career and juggling his time with his college education, Lasaylo also works part-time in a retail business. This allows him to stay connected to people, experience the day-to-day grind that ordinary people like him go through, and incorporate them into his songs. Admittedly, the challenge of managing his time is something that he constantly contends with, but his determination to succeed as an artist is something that he is not willing to compromise.
