From Moscow with Love: Mariia Tsvetkova Taking the Pop Music Scene by Storm

Mariia Tsvetkova recently made a bold announcement in the music scene as a pop artist with her single, “Stupid Things.” The fun, lighthearted song was produced with a catchy acoustic guitar sound, and the theme centers on the foolish things people do when they are in love. Mariia wrote the song with award-winning songwriter/lyricist Nitanee Paris and multi-platinum producer/writer Chen Neeman. It was co-produced by Neeman and Grammy award-winning producer Ken Caillat. The song is laced with clever lyrics that are honest and relatable, and, according to Mariia, it is based on a true story.

Mariia comes from Elektrostal, a small city near Moscow in Russia, but is now based in Los Angeles as a recording artist. She started by performing original music in local venues with a live band. Her career got a boost in May 2019 when she was invited to SongWriterCamps in Palm Springs, hosted by notable songwriters, Pam Sheyne and Richard Harris. At the camp, Mariia’s unique tone and exceptional talent attracted the attention of Nitanee Paris, Director of A&R at ArtistMax, a Los Angeles based artist development and education enterprise founded by Caillat. Shortly after that, Paris facilitated Mariia’s signing with ArtistMax. Since then Mariia has done exceedingly well improving her craft while her artistry flourishes.

Mariia draws major influences from artists like Alicia Keys, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Etta James and Andra Day. She participated in “The Voice Russia” competition in 2015, and she gained experience travelling around the world performing at festivals and concerts.  Her debut EP was released in Moscow in 2019 and she recorded a collaborative album in Switzerland before her talent led her to Los Angeles.

Mariia Tsvetkova’s goal is to become a global pop star, and she is definitely headed in the right direction. She plans to continue making relatable and conscious music for her fans while she focuses on sharing her artistry with a larger world audience. When Mariia left Moscow, she wasn’t expecting to sign a deal, and it has been an experience that she will always be grateful for. Her story is one of impeccable talent that cannot be overlooked. Mariia is excited to be working with ArtistMax to record and release an EP later this year.
