For Jason, the path to creating “Alternate Energy” was neither swift nor straightforward. There were times he found himself stuck in a rut, wrestling with inner demons and external pressures. “It might sound cliché,” he reflects, “but truly, breaking free from the chains that bind you starts with believing there’s a way forward.”
Jason’s turning point came wrapped in the trials of life, drawing him into a profound spiritual awakening that redefined his artistic horizon. “God and the beginning of my recovery journey were the biggest inspirations for this album,” Jason shares during an exclusive interview. His pathway back to the studio was fueled by encouragement from friends and a rebirth of purpose that sparked his creative drive.
Influenced by the authenticity of NF and the complex soundscapes of Tool, Jason’s music interweaves his inspirations with his experiences, creating a sound that is uniquely resonant. “Their music touched me, transforming my approach and helping shape what I wanted to convey through my own songs,” he explains.
The creation of “Alternate Energy” was a labor of love, involving meticulous sessions in the studio and at home, far from the quick, streamlined processes some might imagine. This album was crafted over the years, with roots extending back to his earlier song, “Allergic to Life.” But the bulk of it came to life in just the past year, each track laying down a chapter of his story.
With six heartfelt compositions, the album captures Jason’s transformative journey. Discussing the tracks, Jason finds it tough to pick a favorite. However, “I Can See You There” holds a special place for him, encapsulating the essence of his personal and artistic rebirth. Another standout track, “Sailor,” starts slow but builds into a powerful testament to human resilience, a theme that reverberates through much of his work.
