Having a special love for music was all the reason Harold Shipley needed to commit himself to the art. Growing up in New York’s borough of Staten Island played an undeniable factor in his love for Hip-hop, and moving away to Connecticut did not seem to end that. However, somewhere along the line, things weren’t going as planned, and he picked up illegal activities to sustain the lifestyle he desired as a hip-hop artist. This cost him even more and made him spend time away from his family with his music career, not going how he wanted. He quickly realized he needed to make some changes to better his life and situation. That signaled the beginning of GPMG Records’ existence and the birth of many other new things.
Harold Shipley scored a regional hit song earlier in his career as a high school student. The only problem he faced was his inability to provide for his family as he wanted, which he attributed to a lack of direction in hindsight. Eventually, Harold subjected himself to the mercy of getting mentorship and management for his career, learning more about the music business and industry, focusing on his career solely and nothing else, and marketing himself by telling his story. All these led to creating his independent record label Ghetto Pecvsso Music Group, which has become a torchbearer for fairness, sincerity, communal spirit and excellence in the music industry today.
As GPMG’s CEO, Harold Shipley has handpicked upcoming artists to groom and help their come-up in the music industry. His goal is to create a structure for these artists to grow personally, musically and professionally. One of his artists, Millionz of Bar$, released the single “Fractions,” which has been certified platinum since its release. Millionz of Bar$ has another single in the works, and Kent Jones, another artist at the label, is also working hard to release a single. Harold Shipley is dedicated to building new artists and giving them the opportunity and mentorship he never had.
“I want to show the world that anybody can get things right with determination, patience, hard work and a little bit of bravado. With my accomplishments and mistakes came hard lessons that spurred me to reinvent myself. I’m all the better for it today with these new artists,” Harold said.
Beyond music, Harold is an accomplished and established artist with a specialty in oil painting. He is passionate about evoking emotions in his audience and telling them stories. GPMG is set up to draw in the audience and get them invested in the stories behind every song. Harold Shipley wants to see an improved music industry and culture where everyone looks after one another with sincerity and fairness. In five years, he sees GPMG Records becoming a globally established music company working with a wide range of artists worldwide.
