Music To Die For Recordings brings a fresh approach to the compilation album with its new annual label showcase concept. Spotlighting future star talent discovered by the label, ‘Music To Die For Presents: Artists To Die For’ comes in three distinct parts to cater for today’s range of fans, music heads and tastemakers.

The series kicked off with ‘Artists To Die For v1’ in September, featuring 12 DJ-friendly originals – from dreamy electronica and organic house through to melodic techno, tech-house and dancefloor destroying acid. Aimed at streaming and radio play, the ‘Edits’ version followed later in the year.

Expanded & Remixed

Now comes the final definitive version spanning three discs: ‘Artists To Die For Expanded & Remixed’. And this is where things get even more interesting, with the featured artists remixing another label mate’s track for this special edition that completes the compendium.

GIVE LOVE opens the remixes with his deep, dreamy and acid-laced soundscape version of Fauxplay’s ‘Ascension’. LA-based artists Eyal F. –formerly known as Descent – layers pensive and twinkling keys into his widescreen take of Stuart King’s ‘Aloe Vera’, while fizzing synths and cosmic breakbeats fire off in Speakman’s re-rub of GIVE LOVE’s ‘Give You Love’.

New Heights

Ukrainian artist magic.made.by.r reworks Mallinder’s ‘Heavy Rotation’, Hudson adds a serious heads down dancefloor groove and emotive club-ready synth keys to Speakman x French For Rabbits collaboration ‘High’, and the.CHAIN elevates magic.made.by.r’s beautifully melancholic ‘Eternity’ to new heights of euphoria, adding his own vocals.

Elsewhere, Indie Elephant morphs Ryan Martyn’s ‘Awakening Skies’ into a melon-twisting slice of wonky progressive house, Fauxplay toughens up Eyal F’s ‘The Boat’ – Tommie Sunshine is loving this one – and Stuart King takes Hudson x Fauxplay’s ‘Smoke Rings’ into more rueful and melodic house territory.

On the homestretch, Gus F’s interpretation of organic house dreamer ‘He’s Peaking Sideways’ by the.CHAIN is radiantly optimistic, Mallinder’s subtly euphoric driving house take on Gus F’s ‘So Good’ builds to an indelible finale, before Ryan Martyn pairs the ethereal vocals of Indie Elephant’s ‘Other Side’ with sublime Spanish guitar, transforming the driving original into a lush, percussive-licked electronic lullaby.

Forward-Thinking Music

Label boss Johnny Hudson claims: “The level of imagination, originality, and creative thinking that all the artists display across the album is outstanding. They’re not afraid to rip up the rulebook and the result is forward-thinking music that’ll impact listening experiences and dancefloors worldwide.”

With five Beatport Top 5 releases and eight Hype Chart No.1s in its young history to date, Music To Die For is a label to watch, championing the electronic artists it believes the world needs to hear.

‘Music To Die For Presents: Artists To Die For Expanded & Remixed’ is out now on all major platforms.
