Kate Bush Thankful to the Duffer Brothers for Bringing Her Song Up the Charts

Kate Bush is thankful to the Duffer brothers for making her song “Running Up That Hill” into a musical spotlight.

The song’s involvement in season 4 of Stranger Things helped save Max (Sadie Sink) from the Demogorgon Vecna. The epic track became an instant hit with audiences everywhere, especially the show’s fans.

The track by the British singer has reached No. 1 on the UK charts and attained a high ranking in America’s Billboard Hot 100.

As the song continued to climb up the charts, Bush issued a statement during the weekend called “On Top of That Hill,” expressing her thanks to the Stranger Things creators for how they used the song.

“The Duffer Brothers have created four extraordinary series of Stranger Things in which the child actors have grown into young adults. In this latest series, the characters are facing many of the same challenges that exist in reality right now,” the note read.

“I believe the Duffer Brothers have touched people’s hearts in a special way, at a time that’s incredibly difficult for everyone, especially younger people. By featuring ‘Running Up That Hill’ in such a positive light – as a talisman for Max (one of the main female characters) – the song has been brought into the emotional arena of her story. Fear, conflict, and the power of love are all around her and her friends.”

Bush further wrote in the statement that she looks up to the Duffer Brothers “for their courage – taking this new series into a much more adult and darker place. I want to thank them so much for bringing the song into so many people’s lives. I’m overwhelmed by the scale of affection and support the song is receiving, and it’s all happening really fast as if it’s being driven along by a kind of elemental force.”

She concludes, “I have to admit I feel really moved by it all. Thank you so very much for making the song a No. 1 in such an unexpected way.”

This recent thankful acknowledgment to the Duffer Brothers for using “Running Up That Hill” is not the first time. Following season 4’s launch on Netflix, she ran to her website to say how the song was “given a whole new lease of life by the young fans who love the show – I love it too!”

“Because of this, ‘Running Up That Hill’ is charting around the world and has entered the UK chart at No. 8,” she said at the time. “It’s all really exciting! Thanks very much to everyone who has supported the song. I wait with bated breath for the rest of the series in July.”

Stranger Things season 4 Volume II will premiere on Netflix on July 1 with two lengthy episodes.

Olivia Rodrigo Performs with Natalie Imbruglia in London

During Olivia Rodrigo’s show, she was once again surprised by a guest.

Natalie Imbruglia joined Rodrigo on stage at the 5000-seat Eventim Apollo in London on Wednesday to sing a duet of Imbruglia’s “Torn.”

“She’s the most fantastic singer,” the pop star said, presenting her special guest, “and she sings one of my favorite songs of all time.” Imbruglia sang the first verse and chorus while Rodrigo joined in for the rest of the tune.

When the song concluded, Rodrigo then bowed at Imbruglia’s feet, saying, “That was incredible.”

“Torn” is a single from Imbruglia’s debut album, Left of the Middle, released in 1997 – six years before Rodrigo was born.

Imbruglia expressed her gratitude to the “amazing crowd” in an Instagram story, describing the duo’s experience with Rodrigo as “magical.” The couple’s duet came days after Rodrigo covered the song in a Manchester bar after a performance in the city.

Imbruglia is one of the many artists that Rodrigo adores and has shared the stage with her. At the Glastonbury Festival, she performed “F— You” with Lily Allen, which she addressed to the justices of the Supreme Court justices, who revoked the constitutional right to abortion the day before.

“So many women and girls are going to die because of this [decision], and I wanted to dedicate this next song to the five members of the Supreme Court who showed us at the end of the day they truly don’t give an [expletive] about freedom,” stated the 19-year-old.

“We hate you! We hate you!”

Meanwhile, on the North American side of her tour, Rodrigo was graced with the presence of Alanis Morissette to cover “You Oughta Know” in Los Angeles and Avril Lavigne for a “Complicated” cover in Toronto.

6 Best Songs For A Broken Heart

Everyone goes through breakups in a different way, but we all end up with an aching heart that feels misunderstood by everyone around us. Every lover has at some point thought that no one had felt more heartbreak or more love than them at that moment, but music artists remind us that we’re not alone in our feelings. Some songs allow you to project your own emotions and situations onto those that are expressed through their lyrics, while some of them are more direct and don’t need much interpretation.

Here are some of the more relatable breakup songs that are perfectly shaped to fit the crack in your heart:

Post Malone—I Fall Apart

Austin Malone, better known by his stage name Post Malone, released the song “I Fall Apart” in the year 2016 after a breakup that led to a lot of drinking on his part. The original song goes back to the singer’s high school years when he lived in Texas. During an interview, he said claimed that he wrote it when he was a naïve boy in high school. The song only really gained online traction after a performance in 2017 went viral.

Keaton Henson—Lying to You

The song makes a jab at the unfortunate realities that surround a loveless relationship. Initially released in 2013, this tear-jerking, slow-tuned song shares the narrator’s story about not being in love with their current partner since they lost the person they actually loved. The reason for the loss is never revealed—it might have been through a change in their personality, a breakup, or death. The lyrics tug on listeners’ heartstrings, especially when complemented by the indie-folk notes and slow tune.

Johnny Cash—Hurt

The song “Hurt” was originally released and written in 1995 by an American rock band known as Nine Inch Nails. It was often interpreted to be a suicide note resulting from the main protagonist’s mental health issues. Johnny Cash covered the song as a slower, pain-laced song that was accompanied by a high-quality music video capturing the moments of isolation that existed in his life. The lyrics depict a rather depressive state, but Cash’s version of the song is also referred to as a heartbreak song because of the relationship that is shown in the video.

Kodaline—All I Want

Kodaline is an Irish indie rock band who released the song “All I Want” in 2013 as their first studio album’s single. While the song didn’t reach many radio stations, it still got viral through being featured in emotional episodes of shows like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Vampire Diaries.” It was also listed on “The Fault In Our Stars” soundtrack. The song is written by Steve Garrigan, the band’s vocalist, who got inspired by his breakup, but the lyrics can be interpreted in a variety of ways to represent different things for different individuals.

Taylor Swift—All Too Well

This soft country-rock song from Taylor Swift’s fourth studio album was released in 2012 and instantly wormed its way into everyone’s heart. The song accurately depicts the feelings of the person who got left behind in the relationship, as the protagonists reminisce on their shared moments with their ex-lover and remember how the relationship fell apart over time. Swift’s fans are well-aware of the singer’s musical prowess and powerful lyrics that can melt the iciest of hearts, and we’re definitely here for this catchy heartbreaking banger of a song.

Coldplay—Fix You

Coldplay is an alternative rock band that released the renowned song “Fix You” in their 2005 album, “X & Y.” The song is decked out with multiple heartbreak-related themes, as well as encouragement and recovery. Lead singer Chris Martin wrote the song after his father-in-law’s death and the state of his wife, Gwenyth Paltrow, when she returned from the hospital after his passing. Throughout the song, you can hear a beautiful blend of guitar, piano, and an organ that builds up to also include drums and bass, which creates a gentle transition from sadness and heartbreak to an uplifting beat.

Drake Performs with the Backstreet Boys

On Sunday night, the Backstreet Boys was graced with a surprise guest on stage at their Toronto, Canada show.

Rapper Drake went up on stage with the boy band while they were playing “I Want It That Way.” It was the second show the group performed in Canada for their DNA World Tour.

Ahead of starting the iconic track, People magazine, citing an online footage source, said Drake had revealed a personal story about the Backstreet Boys’ significance to him and why.

“At 13 years old, I had a bar mitzvah; for the first time in my life, this girl I was in love with came up to me while one of the greatest songs in the world was playing, and she asked me if I would dance with her,” he stated, says the magazine.

A clip uploaded on the band’s social media shows Drake contributing his vocals to some harmonies, but mainly dancing, boosting the crowd’s energy, and enjoying the performance from the best seat in the venue.

Drake also made a final bow with the group. Perhaps he wanted it that way.

Olivia Rodrigo is ‘Devastated and Terrified’ about Supreme Court Ruling Over Women Abortion Rights

Musicians from all over have come together in response to the recent court decision that could potentially risk reproductive rights for women. Olivia Rodrigo and Lily Allen criticized the ruling with a song.

Saturday was an epic day for Rodrigo. She performed at the Glastonbury Festival and even got on stage to sing a flaming version of Allen’s 2009 famed “F— You.”

“I’m devastated and terrified that so many women and so many girls are going to die because of this,” the hit singer stated. “I wanted to dedicate this next song to the five members of the Supreme Court who have showed us that at the end of the day, they truly don’t give a s— about freedom.”

Allen pointed her middle finger at Rodrigo while he mentioned the names of five different Supreme Court Justices – Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, and Brett Kavanaugh.

“We hate you!” she shouted ahead of her, and Allen started her song.

Rodrigo presented Allen to the crowd in amazing terms, calling her “the most incredible songwriter, the most incredible artist, the most incredible person.”

The two singers were not alone in their criticism of the Supreme Court’s verdict for dropping federal protections on abortion rights that were installed 50 years ago. Phoebe Bridgers ushered the crowd during her performance on Friday to chant “f— the Supreme Court.”

Lizzo revealed on Friday that she and Live Nation would team up to donate $500,000 each to Planned Parenthood and the National Network of Abortion Funds.

Rage Against the Machine vowed to allocate its earnings from two concerts in Wisconsin and Illinois – they have raised $475,000 thus far – to reproductive health care in those states.

Many more have expressed their protest against the decision.

Cardi B Drops Newest Single’ Hot Shit’ Featuring Kanye West and Lil Durk

Cardi B has just released her newest single, “Hot Shit,” featuring Kanye West and Lil Durk. Tay Keith also produced the song.

The rapper told Zane Lowe that it’s “a little bit older than ‘WAP'” and was supposed to be recorded in 2019. She talked about West’s part of the track’s making in the past.

“Kanye gave me this verse a couple of months ago when he was just all over the media because all of the things that were going on, and I like how his verse it’s personal, but it’s not that personal. It’s enjoyable in the clubs that you could be like, ‘Yeah, yeah. You talk your big cash,'” Cardi said.

“I really love it. And I’m so happy that he gave me this verse, and I had a lot of conversations with Kanye West. I learned so much about him, and he’s such an amazing, sweet person. I’ve been feeling like; I wish a lot of people have conversations with him so they could just see the real him.”

Up-And-Coming Artist Alexander Yearns Shares His Inspiring Journey in the Music Scene

There comes a time in a person’s life when they encounter something so moving and profound that it dictates the course of their future. For musician Alexander Yearns, this life-changing experience happened when he first heard Elvis Presley’s The King Of Rock’ N’ Roll: The Complete 50’s Masters CD box set.

He was rummaging through his uncle’s basement in Palisades Park, New Jersey, one day when he stumbled upon the album. Ever the curious type, he immediately grabbed his stereo and listened to the entire five-disc compilation. Finally, after nearly six hours of nonstop rock n roll, he finished all 140 songs. The young man found the journey so captivating and hypnotizing that he felt something inside him unlock: a passion for music. Since then, he has become obsessed with one of life’s most potent intangibles.

Less than a year after that fateful experience, Alexander Yearns pursued his newfound love and asked for his very own drum kit. Before long, things fell into place, and his career as a professional musician began. He was only thirteen when he joined a band that primarily performs music inspired by the New Jersey rock n roll scene.

The gifted teen was the group’s drummer, alongside his older brother and other guys from their neighborhood. On top of that, he also utilizes his unrivaled artistry by writing songs, making records, and touring together with the group.

However, after six years in the band, the young man felt it was time for him to spread his wings and find his voice as a solo artist. This change of pace finally allowed the talented individual to tap into his inner emotions. As a result, he was able to consistently write songs and create music that reflected his true feelings. He also started exploring new instruments and learned how to play the guitar, which greatly aided his songwriting journey.

He has since launched several projects, including his debut EP, To Each of Us, which was released in October 2018 and produced at Strange Weather Recording Studio in Brooklyn. The collection contains five tracks that dance on the edge of psychedelic folk-rock while the artist’s electrifying voice hovers over an experimental and, at times dominating, moody acoustics.

Three years later, the singer-songwriter dropped his first-ever full-length album, Phoenix, which marks a new chapter in the musician’s life. The LP features quieter tracks that are stripped back, with each song being a bit rawer and baring more soul than the last, a stark contrast to the lively and upbeat theme of his first album.

With such an impressive discography, there is no doubt that Alexander Yearns is one of today’s most promising performers. In fact, he is making waves in the music scene for his one-of-a-kind sound and poetic lyrics that ensnares the senses of every listener.

Moving forward, the musical prodigy plans to continue expanding his horizons by creating songs that people can connect with and relate to. He is already preparing to record his next body of work, which will be available soon. In the meantime, fans and music lovers can listen to his other songs on all streaming platforms, including Spotify. They can also listen to My Void, a series of instrumentals he has collected over the years, available exclusively on Bandcamp.

Promoting your new music album: Top marketing tips to increase traction

If you’re a musician with an upcoming music album, you know that promotion is critical. But with a limited marketing budget, it can be tough to figure out how to get the word out.

Promoting your upcoming music album can be tough. There’s always that looming uncertainty of what if the public doesn’t show much interest? That’s a fear every musician and band has faced in their career. The anxiety is legitimate, but there are a few tips and tricks you should keep in mind to help increase traction and get people interested.

It’s important to remember that not everyone will be interested in your music. It’s crucial to figure out who would most likely enjoy your album and focus on your marketing efforts. Once you’ve found your target audience, the next step is to start promoting. Here are the top marketing strategies for promoting your upcoming album on a limited budget.

Put together your marketing collateral

The first thing you need to do is put together your marketing collateral. This includes everything from your album cover and press photos to your one-sheet. You want to ensure that all your materials are high-quality and professional-looking. For instance, your album cover will be the first thing potential fans see, so you want to make sure it looks good. The good news is you can use an online graphic design tool like PosterMyWall to craft your music poster templates in minutes.

We also recommend you put together a press kit, which is essentially a collection of all your marketing materials in one place. This should include all information relevant to your band, including tour dates, album cover art, venues, and contact information. You can either create a physical press kit or create an online version.

Develop a social media strategy

These days, social media is one of the most powerful tools to promote your music. It’s a great way to reach out to potential fans and build a following. But it’s important to remember that not all social media platforms are created equal. For instance, Instagram is very visual-heavy, so it’s perfect for sharing photos and videos. On the other hand, Facebook is great for sharing longer-form content and articles.

It’s essential to develop a social media strategy that takes advantage of the strengths of each platform. For instance, you might want to post shorter snippets of your songs on Instagram using Instagram post templates by PosterMyWall, with a link to your website or Facebook page where people can listen to the whole song. Or you might want to post tour dates and venue information on Facebook. The important thing is to be strategic about which platforms you’re using and what kind of content you’re sharing.

Have a classy website up and running

Your website is one of the essential tools for promoting your album, and it’s the central hub for all your marketing efforts. So it’s important to ensure that your website looks professional and is easy to navigate.

When potential fans visit your website, you want them to be able to easily find information about your upcoming album. Make sure to feature your album cover art, release date, and where people can buy or stream the album. You might also want to include a press kit and a list of tour dates.

And finally, don’t forget to include social media buttons so people can easily follow you on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. If you’re offering a limited-time discount for your concerts, make sure to create eye-catching banners or concert flyer templates embedded on your website’s front page.

Email marketing helps you connect with fans

Another great way to promote your album is by developing an email list. This is a great way to stay in touch with potential fans and keep them updated on your latest news. You can build your email list by including a sign-up form on your website. You can also promote your sign-up form on social media and live shows.

Once you have a list of email addresses, you can start sending out periodic updates about your album. Include the release date, where people can buy or stream the album, and any upcoming tour dates. You might also want to include some exclusive content, like behind-the-scenes photos or videos, for people on your email list.

Post teasers of your new album on YouTube

As one of the most-watched video platforms out there, YouTube can be a great tool for promoting your album. You can start by posting teaser videos that give potential fans a taste of what’s to come. These videos can be short clips of songs, interviews with band members, or anything else that gets people excited about your album.

Make sure to include links back to your website or social media pages in the description of each video. You might also want to create a dedicated playlist for your album teaser videos. And don’t forget to promote your videos on social media and in your email marketing campaigns.

Also, keep SEO (search engine optimization) in mind. You must research and figure out which keywords are most relevant to your album. Keep the descriptions short and the title catchy. This will help ensure that your videos come up when people are searching for related terms on YouTube.

Pair up with other musicians and YouTube channels

Another way to get your music out there is by partnering with other musicians or YouTube channels. This can be a great way to reach new audiences and get more exposure for your album. You can start by reaching out to other musicians who have a similar sound or style as you. See if they’re interested in doing a joint video project or cross-promotion.

You can also reach out to popular YouTube channels in your genre and see if they’re interested in featuring your music. This is a great way to get exposure to a whole new audience. Send them a professional press kit that includes your album cover art, release date, and links to where people can buy or stream the album.

Host a mini-concert to get the vibes going

One of the best ways to promote your album is by hosting a mini-concert. This is a great way to connect with potential fans and give them a taste of your music. You can host your concert at a local venue or even in your own backyard. Make sure to promote the event on social media and through email marketing.

You can also use this as an opportunity to sell merchandise. Set up a table with your album, t-shirts, and other merchandise. This is a great way to make some extra money and promote your album at the same time.

A few parting words

Promoting your new album can be a daunting task, but if you devise a  solid marketing strategy beforehand, you’ll be sure to see success. Also, remember that every band has a different target audience, so there’s no one-size-fits-all approach that works for everyone. So, don’t be afraid to experiment with different marketing techniques until you find the ones that work best for you and your band.
