Woody Harrelson once said that Michael J. Fox “never could hold his cobra blood.”
On Saturday, Harrelson attended the 13th Annual Governors Awards, where they present all honorary Oscars, in Los Angeles. He came to present the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Fox.
In his introduction to Alex P. Keaton, Harrelson revealed small details about a drinking night that went wrong in Thailand.
The two were traveling through the jungles of Thailand when Fox gave someone who ultimately brought them to a battle between a cobra and a mongoose. o all Woody Harrelson stories start with such a plot?
So, Harrelson stated that he “didn’t believe it” when he spotted Fox “sitting next to this kid with dozens of cobras all around them ready to strike. And – no jest – and the kid was toying with these cobras.”
He added: “He taunted a bunch of these cobras. And then he found the orneriest cobra, grabbed it by the neck, threw it in a cage with a mongoose, where I saw the craziest fight I’ve ever seen between any animals other than studio executives.”
“You guys know I’m kidding.”
Eventually, the mongoose won the battle. And as tradition dictated, it was time to become the serpent’s brother by consuming its blood.
“They took the snake, yep, tied it by its tails, ran the blood out, half-filled four glasses with cobra blood and half with Thai whiskey,” Harrelson elaborated.
“Mike and I drink lots of things together. And he can hold his own – can I say he’s Canadian. But Mike promptly vomited his snake cocktail. Never could hold his cobra blood.”

Harrelson Jokes
While accepting the Hersholt Award on stage, Fox expressed his gratitude and hugged Harrelson for the introduction. It paid tribute for “outstanding contributions to humanitarian causes.”
“I love you. We did some damage,” Fox stated to his Doc Hollywood co-actor. “We did some damage in the ’80s.”
Fox previously endorsed Harrelson for a role in the 1991 comedy, contributing to the actor’s career as a movie star.
When Fox accepted the award for his work with Parkinson’s disease, he contemplated on living with the disease. But, unfortunately, the actor was diagnosed briefly after shooting Doc Hollywood.
“I refer to Parkinson’s as the gift that keeps on taking. But it truly has been a gift,” Fox stated.
“Once I became engaged in learning about the disease, every interaction, every new piece of information I gathers, every researcher or NIH official I talked to, all confirmed the science was ahead of the money.”
He continued: “The answers could be unlocked with the right investments.”

Alongside Harrelson and Fox, Doc Hollywood stars Julie Warner, Barnard Hughes, David Ogden Stiers, Frances Sternhagen, and Bridget Fonda.
Moreover, Michael Caton-Jones served as the film’s director, while Daniel Pyne with Jeffrey Price and Peter S. Seaman served as writer.
