For real music lovers, one of the most frustrating things that can happen is finding a new favorite artist and seeing them drop off the map. J. Irja was poised to take off in 2023 with records with majors like Benny the Butcher, Twista, Royce da 5’9 and a knockout club track called “Go Time” in rotation. With her bold and daring head tattoo, half-shaved head, unapologetic blunt posts and videos, and some serious talent to back it up, anyone could have believed it was her time to break through. Then, she stopped releasing music.

Why would this happen? At the height of her career, why would she just stop? There might be a hint at the answer with her new single “Hate2SeeMeWin.” If everything she had already been through (head injuries, PTSD, DID, trafficking, the passing of her sister, and so much more) wasn’t enough, she seems to be alluding that the very people she was lifting up during that time started knocking her down. She sure has run into more than her fair share of hard times, and dedicated followers know how difficult her road has been. That difficult journey is one thing that many listeners love about J. Irja, and how open she is about describing the hardships she endured and how she pulled out of it. Dedicated fans and new listeners alike can be seen commenting on her videos, posts, and lives, describing how refreshing and motivational it is that she puts herself out there to be judged, all so others can see they are not alone and they can overcome any obstacle in their way.

Hate2SeeMeWin lyrics are telling this roller coaster of a story, but there is a lot of reading between the lines to do. It isn’t completely clear who she is addressing, but there seems to be the possibility of rap beef brewing- which could be interesting to watch. In the past, a few lackluster rappers have taken their aim at J. Irja, but she never bothered to even respond on the track. There is every indication that this time may be different if the right person pushes her to step into the ring. As for right now, J. Irja seems content working on herself and building the best version of her own life while using the mic to vent. Cross-referencing her social media posts shows that she has been doing a lot of the work herself and even edited this video on her own.

In the studio, she built it with her own two hands. She has been going live, showing every step of the process- from building her desks while listening to new instrumentals to showing us her music video editing process as she heals from her facial procedures that are aimed to help heal her facial injuries.

Is this the Phoenix rising from the ashes story fans have been waiting to see from J. Irja? No one can be exactly sure, but checking out the Hate2SeeMeWin music video can help music aficionados decide for themselves. With everything going on in the industry right now, it could surely use a rags-to-riches redemption story. Only time will tell how this plays out. Either way, this track is a fiery new single with the potential to set the playing field for something even more amazing to come.

As a last note, it is interesting to see the many new depths in J. Irja’s personality and life emerging through the music and her social media content. She even just graduated summa cum laude with her bachelors degree in Leadership and Organizational Development. One thing remains true: J. Irja is owning her past, pushing through her present challenges, and putting it all on display to motivate others around her to win. Even though some of those people hate to see it.
