Marissa Luna: A Musical Journey from Pageantry to the Country-Pop EP
A life in the limelight, a journey through theater and pageantry, and now, the advent of a promising country-pop EP – welcome to the inspired world of Marissa Luna. A singer and pageant queen, Luna’s tale is not just one of stardom, but of resilience, perseverance, and the relentless pursuit of personal growth.
In the quaint heartlands of Birmingham, Luna’s story began at Red Mountain Theatre Company. As a burgeoning artist, she embarked on a journey of self-discovery, fine-tuning her singing, dancing, and acting skills in various productions. She spiraled into a world of music and theater with iconic performances in “Aladdin,” “The Wizard of Oz,” and “Hairspray.”
Around thirteen, she chose to shift gears from traditional schooling to pursue a career in music. She found a mentor in Jan Smith, a globally recognized vocal coach whose clientele boasts of chart-topping artists like Shania Twain and Justin Bieber. Despite having reservations about embracing a genre deeply rooted in her Southern upbringing, Luna eventually yielded to the allure of country music, discovering its profound impact on her evolving musical style.
Around the same time, Luna ventured into the world of pageantry, fueled by the immense love for music and the opportunity to shine in music-related segments of the contests. She won a talent competition at the National American Miss pageant, marking her ascent in the world of beauty and grace, subsequently clinching the title of Miss Alabama’s National American Miss Junior Teen. She is currently the 2024 Miss University of Alabama.

Functioning as more than just a stage, the Miss America organization played a pivotal role in Luna’s personal development. Her involvement with the organization didn’t only amplify her confidence but heightened her commitment to the advocacy of hidden disabilities. Inspired by her own battles with ADD and learning challenges, Luna became an ardent advocate for the nonprofit organization “More Than Meets the Eye.”
Luna’s music career continues to be a fortuitous journey. Introduced to famed singer songwriter Peanutt Montgomery, who wrote over 73 hits for George Jones and then he asked her to perform at his induction to the Music Hall of Fame, Luna found herself springboarded into the larger realm of music. Her fleeting encounter with Peanutt led her to an impromptu performance at a Hall of Fame Induction, which not only showcased her talent, but further broadened her contact network.
Young Luna has now set her sights on her upcoming EP. Collaborating with the celebrated producer Ronnie Hall and songwriter James LeBlanc, Luna is poised to create music with a new distinctive country flavor. Though details surrounding the title and release date remain under wraps, the growing anticipation in her voice is palpable.

Her upcoming EP, heavily flavored with country-pop influences, mirrors her own evolution as an artist. “It’s been a long journey of figuring out what style of music I want to do, and my new EP will be country, which I’m really excited about,” shares Luna.
