Barbie Ferreira Says Goodbye to ‘Euphoria’ Character Kat

High school isn’t forever, even in fictional settings. And one of the most famous and beloved television schools is losing a fan-favorite girlfriend.

Barbie Ferreira, who played body- and sex-forward character Kat Hernandez on HBO’s Euphoria, has announced that she’s saying goodbye to the character.

In an Instagram story, Ferreira announced her exit along with artwork from fellow cast member Hunter Schafer.

“After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye. I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today,” she wrote.

“I put all my care and love into her, and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you Katherine Hernandez.”

In Euphoria’s second season, Kat developed the character on her own, quit her job as a dominatrix, and tried to address body image issues.

It’s not yet clear what happens to Kat in the future, but Euphoria season 3 gained the nod after doubling viewership numbers during the first two seasons.

Further details on the third season of Euphoria have not been disclosed, including the date of the premiere.
