The covid-19 has brought people in turmoil, especially in third-world countries. While the vaccine is not yet fully discovered and the people behind the discovery and experimenting for the virus to be made available, preventive measures were imposed. However, vulnerable countries are still on a high curve and suffering. Inadequate equipment, treatments, and rapid testing is still difficult to attain and we cannot just watch them suffer.
During the darkest time of our lives, we need light that will help us to get us going in our destination – to live. Moreover, musicians, businessmen, public figures, leaders and even simple citizens are making their efforts to help those who are in need amidst the pandemic crisis.
GLOBAL GOAL: UNITE FOR OUR FUTURE — THE CONCERT was successful and emotional at the same time. The star-studded concert has proven that at times of darkness, music can be the light that will ignite the dying hope in our hearts.
Since the coronavirus pandemic has postponed many live concerts and events. But some of the world’s biggest stars have sung their hearts out altogether to reiterate and raise more awareness about the pandemic — specifically the communities that are more affected by the deadly disease.
The concert was hosted and presented by Dwayne Johnson. The two-hour special benefit concert will feature big stars like Justin Bieber, Shakira, Miley Cyrus, Usher, J Balvin, Chloe x Halle, Jennifer Hudson, and Quavo and others, as well as special appearances by Charlize Theron, Olivia Colman, Chris Rock, Billy Porter, and David Beckham. The concert is part of a larger campaign from Global Citizen and the European Commission for the development and distribution of tests, treatments, and vaccines against Covid-19, especially to the less fortunate communities respectively. There were several initiatives by musicians to seek adequate funds for COVID-19 patients.
The virtual concert, hosted by Dwayne Johnson, seeks to inspire and give hope to the disproportionate communities who are affected of COVID-19 and the profit will be given to specific charities and organizations like European Commission. The Saturday performances, following a summit of panel discussions and interviews, will also feature appearances from Hollywood stars including Billy Porter, Olivia Colman, Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington.
The concert can be accessed at globalcitizen.org and will air on a number of platforms including Apple, NBC, MTV, Twitter, YouTube, Roku, Twitch, Tidal and Yahoo. Also broadcasting the Global Citizen event are Global TV in Canada, iHeartMedia, Grupo Globo in Brazil, MSNBC, SiriusXM and Bloomberg Television
The virtual global concert will feature philanthropists, world leaders and corporations who will announce their open-willingness and commitments to help develop more equitable distribution of COVID-19 tests, sustainable treatments and vaccines and rebuild marginalized communities who are disproportioned by the coronavirus pandemic. The panels will be moderated and regulated by journalists Morgan Radford, Mallika Kapur, Katie Couric, and others.
Additional performances from the biggest star for the Saturday virtual concert include Jennifer Hudson, Yemi Alade, Lin-Manuel Miranda and the cast of Hamilton with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots, Usher, Coldplay, Christine and the Queens, J. Balvin and Quavo.
