Mariah Carey’s Festive Performance at 2023 Billboard Music Awards

Renowned as the “Queen of Christmas,” Mariah Carey is set to deliver a unique, Aspen-themed rendition of her classic holiday hit, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” at the Billboard Music Awards. This performance will be a first for the song on any awards show platform. Debbie Allen, an acclaimed choreographer, is at the helm of the creative aspects of this segment.

The event will feature an array of artists, including David Guetta, Bebe Rexha, KAROL G, NewJeans, Peso Pluma, Stray Kids, and Morgan Wallen. The performances and award presentations will be accessible through various channels, including BBMAs and Billboard social media, and a dedicated streaming site,, on Sunday, Nov. 19, from 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

In recognition of her holiday hit’s success, Carey will receive the Billboard Chart Achievement Award. The song has consistently reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since 2019, with a total of 12 weeks at the top. It’s one of Carey’s three songs to have achieved a double-digit tenure at No. 1, alongside “One Sweet Day” and “We Belong Together.”

Carey’s achievements on the Hot 100 are unparalleled. She boasts 19 No. 1 singles, the highest for any solo artist, and holds the record for the most weeks at No. 1 (91). She’s also recognized as the female songwriter with the most No. 1 hits (18) and is the only artist to have her first five singles reach No. 1.

Her influence extends beyond the Hot 100, with significant accomplishments on other Billboard charts. Carey has spent the most weeks at No. 1 on the Radio Songs chart and has 18 top 10 albums on the Billboard 200, including six chart-toppers.

Debbie Allen, the choreographer for Carey’s performance, is a three-time Primetime Emmy Award winner and was honored with the Kennedy Center Honors in 2020 and a Governors Award at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards in 2021.

Taylor Swift leads the 2023 BBMAs with 20 nominations, followed by Morgan Wallen and SZA with 17 each. Other notable nominees include The Weeknd, Drake, Zach Bryan, and Luke Combs.

The BBMAs will celebrate the year’s top music artists based on Billboard chart performance. The show, produced by Dick Clark Productions, promises a novel award show experience with performances and celebrations in various global locations.

In an unprecedented partnership, the BBMAs and Spotify Fans First will reward dedicated fans who have significantly contributed to their favorite artists’ success on the Billboard charts. These fans will receive exclusive access to performances tailored for the 2023 BBMAs.
