Dovahh Honors a Promise to His Mother, Out to Dominate Music Industry

A heartfelt promise to a loved one can, indeed, do wonders. 18-year-old music artist DeAndre McKenzie, aka Dovahh, knows this all too well. Following his mother’s death in 2017, the artist vowed to carve a better life for himself, and music became an avenue for him to fulfill his vow.

Dovahh is a creative mind from Queens, NY. Growing up in the vibrant environment of the Big Apple, the artist aspired to gain the spotlight through music. He has been passionate about creating music for as long as he can remember, attributing his love for the art to his family. Dovahh grew up in a household of musically inclined individuals. His mother was a singer in a local church, while his father was a DJ. Music has been the artist’s constant companion growing up, and it comforted him deeply at the loss of his mother.

Today, seeking to fulfill the promise he made to one of his biggest inspirations, Dovahh fearlessly embarks on building his name in the industry. He is inspired by some of the most influential names in the scene, including Juice WRLD, XXXTentacion, Lil Peep, Dee Swxndle, AJ Kartier, Jsk8tes, and more. Dovahh aims to better himself as an artist by continually learning from others who have been in the game for quite a time.

With his tenacity and guts, Dovahh makes music to express things and feelings that would otherwise be lost in translation without the melody. Music is his ultimate way of communicating with others, even with himself, and he aims to let his listeners know that they are not alone. Losing a loved one at an early age is never easy. Dovahh wants to portray how music has allowed him to overcome the pain and continually move forward. “My music comes from the heart. Most of the things that I say in my music is real,” he said.

Just as XXXTentacion and Juice WRLD’s music helped him get through some of the darkest points of his life, Dovahh wants to uplift music lovers and artists in the same manner. “I like to help people with their problems in any way I can, and I feel like music is helpful the way it helped me,” shared the artist. Indeed, music has the power of breaking down barriers and touching souls separated by language, culture, or distance.

Asked where he sees himself in five years, Dovahh shared that he aims to give back to his community and help others in any way that he can. It’s not an easy feat for an 18-year-old to set such a profound goal, but the artist wants nothing but the best for those around him. He wants to show that there’s nothing wrong with helping others, especially the less fortunate.

Besides himself, Dovahh’s two older brothers are also in the music scene, carving a name for themselves as producers in the making. Indeed, music runs naturally in his entire family. To learn more about the upcoming artist, and listen to his creations, visit his platform on SoundCloud.
