There might be a hint at the answer with her new single “Hate2SeeMeWin.” If everything she had already been through (head injuries, PTSD, DID, trafficking, the passing of her sister, and so much more) wasn’t enough, she seems to be alluding that the very people she was lifting up during that time started knocking her down. She sure has run into more than her fair share of hard times, and dedicated followers know how difficult her road has been. That difficult journey is one thing that many listeners love about J. Irja, and how open she is about describing the hardships she endured and how she pulled out of it. His background in musical theater vocal lessons and summer camps made this fusion effortless. “As a kid, I took musical theater vocal lessons and went to musical theater summer camps, so the blending of the two was pretty easy because I’m well-versed in both genres,” he explains. I didn’t have to do much except sing it in my vocal range,” he notes. This approach breathes new life into the timeless tune while maintaining its original charm.

“Dreaming In Emerald City (Wicked Deluxe Edition)” features covers of songs by Minnie Riperton, Whitney Houston, Rihanna, and India.Arie. These selections were easy for HeIsTheArtist, as they are songs he grew up loving. “All of the covers on my EP were songs that I already loved to listen to growing up. Those four songs are naturally the epitome of love songs, in my opinion,” he says.
