J.Fla, the First Korean Female Solo Artist to Top the US iTunes Alternative Genre Chart in 1st…Sweeping the Global Music Charts

Singer-songwriter J.Fla proved her global popularity by dominating various leading US music charts. As a Youtuber with  17.6 million subscribers, J.Fla has opened a new chapter by releasing her pre-single “Bedroom Singer.” Despite being inactive for almost an entire year with a hearing loss illness, she has come back for her fans with a new surprise. Ever since the release of her song, she has been gaining popularity for the unique concept she has created herself.

According to the latest chart (as of October 13) recently released by the billboard data company MRC Data, on October 18 (local time), J.Fla’s new song “Bedroom Singer” entered the “Digital Song Sales TOP 200” chart as 145th place. Among all Korean artists in the weekly ranking, she ranked 2nd overall, drawing the attention of many people. This is a massive achievement considering “Bedroom Singer” is the first release ever since her hiatus.

In this chart, MRC Data, which provides music sales data, aggregates and announces digital music sales in the United States. Major U.S. record producers, distributors, broadcasters, artist management companies, etc., analyze the music industry based on the weekly sales aggregated by MRC data, and the Digital Song Sales chart of the Billboard chart utilizes the data. Mainly because Korean artists such as Stray Kids and Mamamoo ranked 61st and 200th on the chart, respectively, the meaning is more profound.  Unlike the rest of the Korean artists, J.Fla’s style of music drastically differs in the fact that her song is not considered K-POP but rather an alternative.

In addition, J.Fla demonstrated her potential to rank first in the US iTunes alternative genre as the first Korean female solo artist, catching the interest of many people. She has challenged herself to create music out of the ordinary by singing her song entirely in English and deeply integrating her feelings to portray to the public.

Not only did she achieve 35th on the US Shazam regional chart, recording the highest amongst Korean female solo artists this year, but she also stood out with an overwhelming record on various US music charts, giving the green light to her global activities. It is expected that she will continue to rise in various music charts and open a tour around the time of her regular album release.

After releasing her pre-single album “Bedroom Singer” on October 7th, J.Fla became the first East Asian to conduct a collaboration content with the GRAMMYs. Furthermore, she raised expectations by announcing various global activities, such as the release of her regular album early next year.
