Lil Durk Wounded on Stage Over Pyrotechnic Explosion at Lollapalooza 2022

Lil Durk was wounded during his performance at the stage of Lollapalooza 2022 at Grant Park in Chicago on July 30. It seemed that stage pyrotechnics exploded in front of him.

On Instagram, Lil Durk posted a photo of himself where his eye is bandaged.

Following Durk’s walk into the explosion, he suddenly halts rapping and uses his shirt to attempt to wipe his eyes.

“Woah, Woah, you alright, bro? It shot straight up,” his DJ is heard saying, referring to the smoke.

“Due to the incident that happened at Lollapalooza in Chicago on stage, I’ma take a break & focus on my health,” he said in the post. “I finished my performance yesterday for my fans. Appreciate y’all.”

Lollapalooza has not yet published a statement regarding the issue.

Durk is now set to play later this month, having more dates set for September and October. Lollapalooza continued its Chicago show for its last day, featuring Green Day and J-Hope as headliners.

A clip of the accident that went viral on different social media platforms shows Lil Durk walking on the stage ahead of getting hit in the face with two smoke pillars. He then protects his face with his T-shirt, and the music goes off.

Following a short moment of silence, Durk replied, “F—k it, no more smoke, let’s do it,” ahead of continuing his performance.

Other Updates

Meanwhile, in a different setting in the festival, a show was headlined by Machine Gun Kelly and Dua Lipa.

The “Bloody Valentine” singer went on stage sporting a pink leather biker jacket and sang hits from his studio album in 2020, Tickets to My Downfall, and his most recent release, Mainstream Sellout.

Colson Baker by birth, the rocker contemplated performing the 1:30 pm slot at the festival last year, saying, “I’ve been waiting for this moment a long f—ing time.”
