Is Zac Efron Giving Us Hints on an Upcoming High School Musical Reunion?

Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat!

Zac Efron, who catapulted to stardom after starring in the High School Musical film series, has returned home. In an intriguing photo he uploaded on Friday outside of the East High set, he was in black, striking an interesting pose.

“Don’t you… Forget about me ✊🏼,” the actor who plays Troy said in the photo’s caption, citing another classic, The Breakfast Club of 1985, with the quote and pose.

The fan response to the post has been overwhelming. Even Bart Johnson, who portrayed Efron’s on-screen dad, jumped into the fun, saying, “Warms coaches ole heart to see this. Welcome home, son. WHAT TEAM!?”

It looks like something may be brewing. Vanessa Hudgens, another High School Musical star and current Disney Channel Original Series actress, uploaded an almost identical post only a month ago, but hers is a video. In the clip, she walked into the high school, turned around to the camera, and gave a peace sign.

Hudgens wrote in the caption: “Do you remember in kindergarten how you’d meet a kid and know nothing about them, then 10 seconds later you’re playing like you’re best friends because you didn’t have to be anything but yourself?”

A High School Musical Mini Reunion Doesn’t Sound Bad

High School Musical brought us two of today’s most famous actors, Efron and Hudgens. They portrayed the characters in this movie who were meant to be Troy Bolton, a basketball captain, and Gabriella Montez, an academically excellent transferee.

These films were released between 2006 and 2008 and quickly created a huge fan base for the pair – now household names of teen classics.

A Disney+ show based on HSM, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, is preparing for a season 3 premiere this coming July 27.

Efron and Hudgens have not made an appearance on the show yet, but these hints (we wish) have fans hopeful for their arrival in future episodes.

When asked for a comment, a representative for Efron did not instantly reply.

High School Musical follows a basketball team captain who is Bolton, and an academically inclined transferee, Gabriella, as they try out for parts in their school musical, prompting splits among the school’s pack.

The film series features Efron, Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu, and Monique Coleman.
