Ben Affleck Reveals Reason Matt Damon is a Slob

They say you never truly know somebody until you live with them. This was positively the situation for Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, two Hollywood stars who have shared a great deal in their lives. These two have been through a lot together, from a bank account to the big screen. However, there is one thing Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will never share again—an apartment.

Affleck revealed during a recent appearance on The Late Late Show that Damon used to live in a Los Angeles apartment with him and his younger brother Casey. Be that as it may, the experience was not a charming one, because of Damon’s untidy propensities.

“Matt’s a beautiful guy. I love him. He’s my best friend. He’s been great to me my whole life. He’s a brilliant guy,” Affleck began. “I would not suggest living with him.”

Affleck continued by describing how disorganized Damon was and how it drove both him and his brother to the brink of insanity. “He’s a big-time movie star now, but back then he had nothing,” Affleck joked. “He would just buy furniture that was put out on the street. We’d come back and it would just be there, like a chair with three legs.”

Even though the situation now seems funny, Affleck’s comments show how hard it can be to live with someone whose habits don’t go well with your own. The annoyances of sharing a home can put even the strongest friendships to the test.

Affleck on Damon’s Mess

He credited Damon with having the unique ability to “block things out” entirely, even the idea that when something is finished with, it has to be washed or thrown away.

Affleck and Casey, having spent years cleaning up Damon’s mess, decided to test whether he would take responsibility for his own untidiness. They went on a silent strike and refrained from cleaning the apartment for two weeks. However, Damon’s untidy ways eventually led them to break their silence and clean up the mess.

“I came home one day with Casey, and Matt was there in his shorts and T-shirt playing the ’92 Sega hockey game in the middle of what was the living room, just surrounded by concentric circles of garbage,” Affleck recounted. “Pizza boxes, and I looked down at this sushi thing that was a week and a half old, and there were maggots.”

While it’s easy to see the humor in the situation now, living with a messy roommate can be a real nightmare. It’s not just about the mess; it’s about the lack of consideration for your living space and the impact it has on your mental health.

“He just was like, ‘Hey what’s going on fellas?’ [We said,] ‘That’s a rat on you!'” Affleck recounted. “And we were like, ‘We submit. We submit. You are too good. We cannot beat you.'”

While Affleck may not be keen on living with Damon again, he did give a special shoutout to Damon’s wife, Luciana Barroso. The couple has been married for the last 18 years and has four children together. Affleck referred to her as a saint, saying, “God bless his wife, Lucy. There’s a place for you in heaven.”

Challenges in Roommates

Living with roommates can be a fun and rewarding experience, but it can also present its own set of challenges. One of the most common issues that roommates face is dealing with a messy roommate.

A messy roommate can create an uncomfortable living environment, cause conflicts between roommates, and even lead to health hazards. In this article, we’ll discuss some tips for dealing with a messy roommate.

Set clear expectations: It’s important to set clear expectations with your roommate from the beginning. This includes establishing rules for cleanliness, such as how often the common areas should be cleaned, how dishes should be handled, and where personal items should be stored.

Communicate effectively: Communication is key when living with a messy roommate. If you notice that your roommate is not keeping up with their cleaning responsibilities, it’s important to communicate with them in a calm and respectful manner. Explain how their mess is affecting you and ask if there’s anything you can do to help.

Lead by example: It’s important to lead by example when living with a messy roommate. Make sure you’re keeping up with your own cleaning responsibilities, and encourage your roommate to do the same.

Use a chore chart: A chore chart can be a helpful tool for keeping track of cleaning responsibilities. This way, everyone knows what they’re responsible for, and there’s less room for confusion or excuses.

Compromise: Living with a messy roommate may require some compromise. If your roommate is unable or unwilling to keep up with their cleaning responsibilities, you may need to seek a way to live with the mess without it affecting your mental or physical health.

Get creative: If your roommate is consistently messy despite your efforts to communicate and compromise, it may be time to get creative. Consider investing in storage solutions, such as bins or baskets, to help keep their mess contained.

Involve a third party: If all else fails, it may be necessary to involve a third party. This could be a landlord, a mediator, or even a cleaning service. Sometimes, an outside perspective can help to resolve conflicts and create a more harmonious living environment.

Living with a messy roommate can be a tough experience, but it’s important to remember that communication and compromise are key. By setting clear expectations, communicating effectively, and finding creative solutions, you can create a more comfortable and healthy living environment for everyone involved.
