Many young artists share the same dream of making it big into the music industry, and Ron Stills is an up and coming rapper who shares similar aspirations. However, he also wants to be more than just another rapper in the industry.
The Guyanese-American hip hop artist comes from a Caribbean background. His family’s roots come from Guyana, which is located in northern South America bordering Venezuela, Suriname, and Brazil. He grew up with the influence of top charted songs he would hear from the radio, and by the age of twelve, Ron started writing songs.
Ron’s music enthusiasm had him remixing company jingles he saw on television and billboard hits on the radio. Although it was never a serious matter to him, Ron always found joy as he made words fit together like a puzzle. Among his favorites was the Soulja Boy hit, “Turn My Swag On,” and making it a song about taking showers. From there, Ron started writing his own songs. Although they carried no particular meanings, he simply wrote for the fun of it. As he grew older, Ron Stills started to experience more ups and downs in life and came into his own as a person. The songs he wrote began to carry meaning and focused more on life. Ron took musical influence from artists like Eminem, Lil Wayne, Tupac, and Kanye West, to name a few. Now, Ron is focused on putting his life into his music.
The music that he writes doesn’t just revolve around his own life but also the lives that touch him. Ron takes great inspiration from everyone he encounters because he believes that for his music to touch people, he needs to be able to put himself in the shoes of all the other people. Ron wants his music to be enjoyed by everyone. He wants his songs to be heard by children, teens, adults, and their grandparents, who can all listen and enjoy them.
Ron tries to use universal language so everyone can relate to his music. He also wants to fulfill his mission to challenge himself by using different words, as well as words and phrases that aren’t typically used in his genre while still making it understandable. In the time that he spent making music, he has done a lot of recording and has written well over 300 songs, even though he’s only released a handful of them.
Apart from the words and phrases that he uses in his songs, what makes Ron unique is that he doesn’t try to follow rap and hip hop trends. Instead, he does what he likes, often leading him to create content that resonates with him and his listeners. As much as possible, Ron tries not to repeat words or use filler words.
As a musician, Ron Stills’ goal is to tell stories with his music, making people want to listen with lyrics that make people pay attention.
