North Philly Kid Rockstar Nova Is Changing the Local Music Flavor

The thriving city of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania has always been known as home to a well-documented and ever-evolving musical heritage from classical music to R&B, opera, jazz, soul, and even hip-hop. It is also widely known as a melting pot of phenomenal and emerging musical talents such as Patti Labelle, Frankie Avalon, Chubby Checker, Boyz II Men, Dr. Dog, and John Coltrane, among others. Today, next-generation musical artists are on the rise, and a North Philly kid called Rockstar Nova is slowly changing the local music flavor with his original hiprock musical genre that he is starting to popularize.

This 2020 alone, Virginia born and Philadelphia raised artist born JaVon Stukes, released six exciting singles that are a unique blend of the Lenny Kravitz rockstar vibe and the musical stylings of a rap artist. Just this October 29, Rockstar Nova released his single Animal. Earlier this year, he introduced the single Toxic Love, Famous featuring CashStayStoned, I 95, Dirty Diana, and 4:00 AM. The songs were launched on various streaming platforms that include iTunes and Spotify. His single Toxic Love generated almost 13k streams, while 4:00 AM attracted more than 8k streams.

The half-black artist, who is also of Irish and Scottish descent, has been in love with R&B since he was a young boy. At 12 years old, he started getting involved in music. By the time he was 17, Rockstar Nova had developed his own style, rhythm, and lyrical talent enough to start writing his own songs while living in Tappahannock, Virginia, the hometown of famous music artist Chris Brown. Determined to share his music with the world, Rockstar Nova dropped his first mixtape titled Kick in the Door at the age of 22. That first mixtape was eventually followed by 20 more.

At the beginning of his music career, the passionate artist most leaned toward rap as his genre of choice. His colorful journey was highlighted by numerous collaborations that include working with some of the industry’s biggest names, including Project Pat, E. Ness, Tory Lanze, Chip, Chedda Da Connect, and Fetty Wap, to mention a few. His exposure to the distinct styles of other artists led him to a unique discovery about his musical inclination, a combination of rock and hip-hop. It was then that the rising star decided to introduce a new genre that he called hiprock.

When 2020 finally came, the former rapper relaunched his personal brand and changed his name to Rockstar Nova. Aside from the six singles he released this year; he also dropped remixes of other songs that include Come Thru and Wake Up Dead. As he continues to pour his heart, soul, and creativity into his music, he is getting ready to introduce his biggest project yet come 2021. He will be releasing Hard Rock Life next year and a couple of new singles in between.

For Rockstar Nova, striving to be different in an industry known for its competitiveness and high demands is his way of standing out in the crowd. As he is one who is always inclined to think outside of the box, he believes that his brand of music is something that will attract music fans from all over the world, finding it refreshing and highly entertaining. He is confident that he will soon find himself performing his original songs on a world stage and making a lasting impact that will have fans craving for more.
