Britney Spears married fitness trainer Sam Asghari in a star-studded event on Thursday night, with celebrities such as Madonna, Drew Barrymore, and Paris Hilton attending.

In 2016, Spears met Asghari while filming her music video for “Slumber Party” under her album Glory. They hit it off and started dating briefly after.

The nuptials marked Spears’ third marriage and Asghari’s first. The Princess of Pop tied the knot with her childhood friend, Jason Allen Alexander, for merely 55 hours in 2004 before filing a hasty annulment. She then married Kevin Federline that same year.

In 2007, Spears and Federline split up but shared two children – Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden, 15.

Hours before the ceremony, Spears’ first husband was held by authorities for attempting to crash it. He told security that his ex-wife issued him an invitation, all on an Instagram live.

“She’s my first wife, my only wife. I’m her first husband. I’m here to crash the wedding,” he stated in a clip shot by TMZ.

Spears and Asghari’s wedding happened following a chaotic but hopeful whirlwind of events for the Grammy winner over the past few months. Thirteen years after living under a conservatorship, a jury’s verdict ordered the termination of the legal arrangement in November 2021, giving Spears the control over her estate and finances again.

After the ruling, Spears took to social media to express her gratitude to fans, writing, “I think I’m gonna cry the rest of the day !!! Best day ever.”

“History was made today,” he wrote on social media, also celebrating the legal victory as he has been supporting Spears during the court hearings. “Britney is free!”

Last September, amid court proceedings, Spears and Asghari announced that they were expecting their firstborn together as a new couple.

However, in a joint Instagram statement in May, the couple said they had lost their “miracle baby.”

“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy,” it said. “This is a devastating time for any parent.”

“Our love for each other is our strength,” the statement concluded on a hopeful note. “We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support.”
