Emilia Clarke’s Broadway Performance is a ‘Catastrophic Failure,’ According to Her

Photo: Observer

Emilia Clarke’s Broadway performance was not up to her standards.

The Game of Thrones actress, who makes her first appearance on the West end this month in The Seagull, was dismayed by how she performed last year. She called it “a catastrophic failure.”

“It was just not ready,” the 35-year-old actress said in an interview with the BBC.

“Was I ready? No, I was definitely not ready,” she stated. “I was a baby. I was so young and so inexperienced.”

Clarke played Holly Golightly, popularly played by Audrey Hepburn and her tiny black dress in the 1961 movie inspired by Truman Capote’s 1958 novella. In Richard Greenberg’s stage version, Clarke acted opposite Cory Michael Smith as Fred and Vito Vincent the cast as Cat.

EW’s Thom Geier in 2013 gave a C+ review for Breakfast at Tiffany’s, stating that “too many scenes that just sit there, failing to delight and robbing the play of any semblance of narrative momentum.”

He said that Clarke’s acting was strong rather than carefree, but he did point out a compliment toward her for filling out those costumes nicely.

While she has a huge fan base, Clarke is “petrified” about her US stage debut.

“I’m profoundly aware of the fact that there will be people who love Game of Thrones and are seeing it for that,” she stated.

“Hopefully, they’ll come and go, ‘We just came to see the Mother of Dragons, oh how frustrating, she’s not on a dragon, this isn’t what I paid for.’ Spoiler: I’m not on a dragon at any point during this play.”

Clarke portrays Nina in the play by Anton Chekhov, with Tom Rhys Harries as Trigorin.

The Seagull debuts on June 29 at the Harold Pinter Theater in London and will run until September 10.

Christian Bale Discloses his Unawareness of What the MCU Was

Photo: Indie Wire

Christian Bale reveals he had no idea what the Marvel Cinematic Universe was before signing on for Thor: Love and Thunder.

The actor, who makes his official debut in the MCU as Gorr the God Butcher in Marvel’s new installments of the Thor franchise, shared that sentiment with Total Film Magazine.

When queried whether he had any doubts about portraying another comic book character after his role as Batman, Bale answered: “Absolutely not, no,” he stated. “That didn’t even enter into my head at all. I’d read that, and people would go, ‘Oh, look at this! He’s entered the MCU!” he added.

Bale added, “And I’d go, ‘I’ve done what? I haven’t entered s—, thank you very much.’ I’m like, ‘The MCU?’ I had to ask what that was.”

Bale discussed the role with filmmaker Taika Waititi, who considered incorporating a dance number highlighting the stylings of Kate Bush, who is currently gaining momentum after her recent spotlight.

“There’s obviously sort of a Nosferatu slight attitude,” Bale stated. “Taika and I wanted to do a whole dance, which we didn’t get to do, but we had all this sort of Kate Bush stuff that we worked at. But I think he just realized he was never going to be allowed to put that in the final film.”

Bale also revealed that he was mistaken to google the comic character.

“You sort of go, ‘I know that he does.’ It’s right there in the name, isn’t it?” he stated. “But I did make the mistake of googling him and, oh no! [In the comics] he runs around in a G-string all the time. And I thought, ‘They don’t have the right man for that.’” On the bright side, Waititi did nix the G-string.

“But I always did think what he could do with this in front of a blue screen,” Bale said. “He could chuck on whatever he wants later on.”

Diane Warren Receives Oscars After 13 Years

Photo: Billboard

Diane Warren, the songwriter and producer nominated for an Academy Award multiple times over her career, will finally win it all this year. She’ll receive her award at next month’s Governors Awards after years of involvement in music videos by artists like Lady Gaga or even writing songs on smaller projects.

On Tuesday, it was announced that one of the four recipients of the Honorary Awards this year would be a famous songwriter, with Witness and Master and Commander executive producer Peter Weir, A Dry White Season by Marlon Brando director, and Michael J. Fox, Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award honoree.

“The Academy’s Board of Governors is honored to recognize four individuals who have made indelible contributions to cinema and the world at large,” Academy President David Rubin said in a statement to the press.

“Michael J. Fox’s tireless advocacy of research on Parkinson’s disease alongside his boundless optimism exemplifies the impact of one person in changing the future for millions. Euzhan Palcy is a pioneering filmmaker whose groundbreaking significance in international cinema is cemented in film history.

“Diane Warren’s music and lyrics have magnified the emotional impact of countless motion pictures and inspired generations of musical artists. Peter Weir is a director of consummate skill and artistry whose work reminds us of the power of film to reveal the full range of human experience.”

Warren’s place in the levels of a perennial competitive nominee for legendary songs like “How Do I Live” by Trisha Yearwood from Con Air and “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith from Armageddon – is usually among the hot topics in the industry for years.

“I mean, go ahead, give Diane Warren an honorary Oscar, please put her out of her misery. She’s usually nominated for a song in a movie that nobody has seen. People love her enough to nominate her, I don’t understand why we can’t just give her the award one year and get it over with,” an anonymous showrunner told EW previously this year as part of the yearly Oscars secret ballot.

A director added, “Give the Oscar to Diane Warren, for God’s sake. I’ve never even heard of Four Good Days, but give her damn Oscar. She keeps getting nominated. She’s like the Susan Lucci of the Oscars. I mean, Jesus Christ. If she doesn’t get it this year, she gets an Honorary Oscar.”

Saturday, November 13, will see the handing out of the Academy’s Governor Awards in Los Angeles, and if tradition remains intact, bits of the ceremony will be edited into the 2023 Oscar awards.

Barbie Character Image Features Ryan Gosling as Ken

Photo: Observer

Ryan Gosling has traded his intimidating on-screen character for a spray tan and denim.

The actor draws attention to his over-the-top transformation in a brand new photo from his forthcoming movie Barbie

Warner Bros. unleashed a bold pink photo of Gosling on Wednesday, just days after releasing its first display of an equally colorful picture of Robbie in Barbie’s pink car from the highly anticipated production.

The adaptation, directed by Greta Gerwig, features Margot Robbie as the iconic toy character. It is also written by Gerwig alongside her partner and long-time collaborator Noah Baumbach.

The film stars famous actors such as America Ferrera, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, Simu Liu, and Kate McKinnon.

In a previous interview, Liu talked about his hairless entry to his portrayal, an approach that, according to the looks of the image, was also used by Gosling.

“Waxing has been an education, to say the least,” he said in an interview with The Independent. “It was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I have such a newfound admiration for the incredibly brave women who go through this on a monthly basis.”

The film’s plot and additional characters from the Barbie collection have not been revealed yet.

Barbie will hit theaters on July 21, 2023.

Emilia Clarke Frightened about UK Stage Debut

Photo: CDN

Emilia Clarke is most famous for her role as Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons in Game Of Thrones. However, she recently revealed that she was “petrified” before her UK stage debut in The Seagull in Chekhov.

“I’m profoundly aware of the fact that there will be people who love Game of Thrones and are seeing it for that,” Clarke said in an interview with BBC.

“It’s ten times more frightening because there’ll be people wanting to go and say, ‘Well, she can only act on camera; she clearly can’t act on stage.’ Which is obviously the biggest fear.”

Nevertheless, the 35-year-old actress also looks forward that by performing in a play written in 1895, following a group of lonely Russians inhabiting an isolated nation estate, she will motivate a new audience to get to the theater.

“Hopefully, they’ll come and go, ‘We just came to see the Mother of Dragons, oh how frustrating, she’s not on a dragon, this isn’t what I paid for.’ Spoiler: I’m not on a dragon at any point during this play,” Clarke laughs.

“But hopefully, what they get, as a kind of little extra, is that they get to enjoy this play that they might not have seen otherwise.”

Clarke portrays Nina with Tom Rhys Harries, who plays Trigorin.

But there is a different type of anxiety. Following a quick decade when Clarke became an international sensation, she had two brain hemorrhages and saw her father die of cancer; playing in the West end is intimidating because “it’s something I’ve wanted for so long.”

She continued, “It’s frightening because it’s a dream of mine finally realized.”

The production was set to open in March 2020, but after only four preview shows, the pandemic hit, and it closed down.

“There is no higher art than theater,” said the British actress. “I adore it. I absolutely love it. I feel happiest, safest, most at home.”

Kate Bush Thankful to the Duffer Brothers for Bringing Her Song Up the Charts

Photo: DIY Magazine

Kate Bush is thankful to the Duffer brothers for making her song “Running Up That Hill” into a musical spotlight.

The song’s involvement in season 4 of Stranger Things helped save Max (Sadie Sink) from the Demogorgon Vecna. The epic track became an instant hit with audiences everywhere, especially the show’s fans.

The track by the British singer has reached No. 1 on the UK charts and attained a high ranking in America’s Billboard Hot 100.

As the song continued to climb up the charts, Bush issued a statement during the weekend called “On Top of That Hill,” expressing her thanks to the Stranger Things creators for how they used the song.

“The Duffer Brothers have created four extraordinary series of Stranger Things in which the child actors have grown into young adults. In this latest series, the characters are facing many of the same challenges that exist in reality right now,” the note read.

“I believe the Duffer Brothers have touched people’s hearts in a special way, at a time that’s incredibly difficult for everyone, especially younger people. By featuring ‘Running Up That Hill’ in such a positive light – as a talisman for Max (one of the main female characters) – the song has been brought into the emotional arena of her story. Fear, conflict, and the power of love are all around her and her friends.”

Bush further wrote in the statement that she looks up to the Duffer Brothers “for their courage – taking this new series into a much more adult and darker place. I want to thank them so much for bringing the song into so many people’s lives. I’m overwhelmed by the scale of affection and support the song is receiving, and it’s all happening really fast as if it’s being driven along by a kind of elemental force.”

She concludes, “I have to admit I feel really moved by it all. Thank you so very much for making the song a No. 1 in such an unexpected way.”

This recent thankful acknowledgment to the Duffer Brothers for using “Running Up That Hill” is not the first time. Following season 4’s launch on Netflix, she ran to her website to say how the song was “given a whole new lease of life by the young fans who love the show – I love it too!”

“Because of this, ‘Running Up That Hill’ is charting around the world and has entered the UK chart at No. 8,” she said at the time. “It’s all really exciting! Thanks very much to everyone who has supported the song. I wait with bated breath for the rest of the series in July.”

Stranger Things season 4 Volume II will premiere on Netflix on July 1 with two lengthy episodes.

Beyoncé Announces New Album Called Renaissance, Dropping July

Photo: V Magazine

Beyoncé is finally back!

Queen B has just announced a new album, Renaissance, to be released on July 29, according to a product listing on her website. The record appeared to be labeled “Act I.”

Streaming services tweeted about the album following Beyoncé’s change of social media bios adding the title and the date.

No specific details were disclosed, which is only in line with her trademark mysterious release techniques. But an unverified tweet from a tireless fan account Beyoncé Legion, hints Renaissance spans 16 songs.

After the announcement, British Vogue’s Edward Enninful said he heard the album in person: “Instantly, a wall of sounds hits me,” he said.

“Soaring vocals and fierce beats combine, and in a split second, I’m transported back to the clubs of my youth. I want to get up and start throwing moves. It’s music I love to my core. Music that makes you rise, that turns your mind to cultures and subcultures, to our people past and present, music that will unite so many on the dance floor, music that touches your soul. As ever with Beyoncé, it is all about the intent. I sit back, after the wave, absorbing it all.”

The Renaissance box set listing counts a CD, T-shirt, and a collectible box, while the product image will update once the campaign artwork is disclosed. In addition, the box will involve a booklet with 28 pages and a mini-poster.

On Wednesday, following Beyoncé’s profile picture change – it went black, fans quickly pointed out that a graphic post on Twitter from her nonprofit, Beygood, cryptically indicated upcoming music.

Merely one square displayed unexplained music in a montage of album covers: a red hand with gloves, pointing to the album cover to the left – Brandy’s B7. So now we know that B7, Beyoncé’s seventh album, is Renaissance

Justin Timberlake Apologizes for Heavily-Criticized Dance Moves

Photo: CDN

Justin Timberlake is ready to take on anything.

The artist’s dance moves circulated on the internet and quickly became viral following his performance of “Sexy Back” at a show in Washington, D.C., over this past weekend – reactions were quite adverse.

Justin Timberlake has issued an apology for his recent dance chaos, which generated widespread mockery and parodies on TikTok.

“D.C., I want to apologize to you for two reasons,” Timberlake uploaded a video on his Instagram Story on Wednesday. Later in the clip, he diverts the camera downward to focus on his multi-hued sneakers. “Here and here!”

He continued jokingly, “I had a long talk with both of them individually and said, ‘Um, don’t you ever do that to me again.”

It turns out that the khaki pants were also to blame for his unfortunate mishap. Timberlake mentioned that he felt like there was “a khaki vibe.”

To make light of the situation, Timberlake then re-uploaded TikToks mocking his moves on his Instagram Story – including a young girl copying the dance with a caption: “she did it better than JT.”

“I don’t disagree,” Timberlake remarked with a laughing emoticon.

Veteran Musician Mick Jagger Gets Infected by COVID-19

Photo: Yahoo

Iconic musician Mick Jagger tested positive for COVID-19. The Rolling Stones were forced to call off an Amsterdam performance after it was discovered.

Unfortunately, The Rolling Stones canceled their performance at the Johan Cruijff Arena. The band is now on their Sixty tour – they were scheduled to perform on 14 shows in 10 European nations.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding,” said Sir Mick, who was knighted in 2003 for his services to music, in a message to their fans.

The Stones noted that the original tickets for this show will still be valid when rescheduled.

The band is already performing through their tour dates, having played in the UK at Anfield Stadium.

“The Rolling Stones have been forced to call off tonight’s concert in Amsterdam at the Johan Cruijff Arena, following Mick Jagger testing positive after experiencing symptoms of Covid upon arrival at the stadium,” said a statement on behalf of the band.

“The Rolling Stones are deeply sorry for tonight’s postponement, but the safety of the audience, fellow musicians, and the touring crew has to take priority.”

A statement from Sir Mick released on Twitter also extended an apology for the cancellation of tonight’s show.

“I’m so sorry that we’ve had to postpone the Amsterdam show with such short notice tonight,” said Sir Mick in a tweet. “I have unfortunately just tested positive for Covid. We aim to reschedule the date ASAP and get back as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Mick.”

Two dates are scheduled in the UK as part of a music festival called BST Hyde Park. The Stones are supposed to perform on June 25 and July 2. Another two performances are set in Switzerland and Italy within the following days.

We’re still waiting on an announcement about the postponed tour dates.
